Word from the Ambassador.

Welcome to the website of the Embassy of The Republic of Uganda in Paris. The Embassy in Paris is tasked with strengthening the fraternal relations existing between Uganda and France. The people of the two countries have historical, cultural, political, economic and social ties that bind them. We hope you will find useful information on this site which has been made user friendly and do not hesitate to give us a feedback on how to better serve you.

This Embassy is now 5 years old after it was closed down in August 2000. We reopened again in August 2003. Like any five year-old, we are still experiencing "teething" problems but we are firmly on our feet and doing the WALK with all of you great people who have visited and keep visiting our site. Thank you for your visit. Please, come again and leave us a word of advice, gratitude and peace in our "Feedback" section.

We hope that through this site, you are able to learn about my dynamic country and what it stands for. I say dynamic because twenty-five years ago, we had no country to talk about. You all remember the reign of Idi Amin Dada? That is no more. He is history that we have archived him in our national Museum.

My country is now counted among successful countries in Africa and even the world. We are dynamic because we did it ourselves. We, the National Resistance Goverment brought back my country from the dumps by first liberating the country from wrong hands and secondly by instituting democracy right from the grassroots to the national level..The Gorvenment has put in place a good judicial system including respect of human rights, correct economic, political and social policies.

The war that devastated the northern part of our country for 19 years is no more. Our people are now being helped by government and some of our international partners to rebuild their lives. Peace is back where it belongs - with the people.

We are now a great and stable country richly endowed by nature which has sustained us through difficult times. This is what I would like to share with you. The climate is right and ripe for everything you want to do. Through our own effort and good leadership, we have achieved macro-economic stability and an annual economic growth averaging 6%. It is against this robust background that I confidently invite you to invest in Uganda and you will celebrate your decision.

The most lucrative areas are energy, tourism, transport, information technology/electronics sector, agro-proceesing, surveying and exploration of minerals: gold, oil, high grade tin, tungsten/wolfram, and mining, construction, manufacturing, infrastructure, education, fisheries, financial services and the people of Uganda, to mention just a few. Uganda is a very beautiful country and  you dear visitor deserve to see this breathtaking beauty in its natural form sitting comfortably astride the Equator. Come to Uganda and enjoy fresh, pleasant breeze amidst the rustling of leaves and birds singing and chirping and monkeys scutling and gorillas mating in the rain forest, elephants trudging across the plain and the king of the animal kingdom, the lion taking an afternoon siesta snugly nestled in the shade, zebras and buffalos grazing together and elephants trudging in the plains while elegant gazzelles drink from little fast moving streams hugging foothills on their marked journeys; lakes, rivers and River Nile meandering steadily on its long journey to the Mediterranean sea, waterfalls, all interwoven into one stunning beauty. Uganda is indeed Gifted by Nature and "The Pearl of Africa", thanks to Winston Churchill.

You need to meet the people. They are so gorgeous and pleasant and welcoming; and do not forget to sample the food, say green bananas cooked and mashed with any stew. You need to see for yourself.

You are welcome to Uganda.
